How Much Does Hydroseeding Cost?
and Other Frequently Asked Questions

How much does hydroseeding cost?

Our services are quoted and based on square footage. When you reach out, you’ll receive an all-encompassing quote outlining how much hydroseeding costs, the area of square footage covered, and the materials used. You’ll know exactly the amount you’re responsible for, leaving no room to wonder how much is hydroseeding going to cost me once the process is complete.

What is hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is the process of mixing mulch, fertilizer, and a blend of grass seeds with water to create a slurry that’s sprayed over the predetermined treatment areas. The fertilizer acts as a glue that holds the grass seeds to the ground so they can root, resulting in a lush, green lawn where once there was nothing but dirt.

How long does it take?

The overall hydroseeding application process takes just a few hours. The new grass should begin to sprout in just seven to ten days, depending on your climate, watering schedule, and seed mixture.

What areas do you service?

Premier Hydroseed proudly services most of Massachusetts, with a focus on Dover, Norfolk, Westwood, Medfield, Sherborn, Walpole, Canton, Sharon, Needham, Weston, Wellesley, Newton, and Brookline.

Do you offer commercial services?

We do, yes! We provide our professional hydroseeding lawn service to a variety of residential and commercial customers across Massachusetts and New England. Most of our commercial accounts include new construction, retirement homes, and apartment complexes. Our equipment is designed for areas under 10,000 square feet.

When is the best time to hydroseed?

The best time to hydroseed is from late April to the end of June, as well as September and October. We’ve found higher temps in July and August result in subpar lawn growth.

Why should I hydroseed instead of laying down sod or dry seeding?

“Sod can be expensive to lay down, not to mention time-consuming, which will add labor costs to the project. Hydroseeding gives you the most bang for your buck: it’s a relatively quick process, requiring only one to two lawn seeder personnel, and lands in the middle of the road between sod and dry seed.

  • Unlike traditional seeding or laying sod, our process offers:
  • More customization when it comes to seed blends
  • Greater disease resistance thanks to a variety of grass seeds
  • Efficient application
  • Prevention against soil erosion
  • A more uniform appearance
